KATHLEEN MURRAY SCHOOL OF       IRISH DANCING

about

The Kathleen Murray School of Irish Dancing was established in September 1994.  Kathleen is the principal teacher and teaches Irish Dancing to boys and girls of all abilities from the age of 4.  Kathleen has 20 years experience in teaching children and had been adjudicating competitions for the past 10 years.

The key objectives in the school are for dancers to learn the basics of Irish Dancing and to improve and perfect all techniques associated with the sport including their fitness levels, confidence and self-discipline.  The school has a friendly approach and each child is encouraged to reach their full potential in a safe environment, whilst also having fun and making new friends.  The school has a strong emphasis on teamwork and this is demonstrated in weekly Ceili team classes which are held separately from the solo classes.

Although dancers are encouraged to take part in local competitions; many dancers in the school go on to participate in competitions throughout the UK and Ireland and have also competed in the Southern England Regional Championships, All Ireland, All Scotland, Great Britain, European and World Championships, we also cater for dancers who do not wish to take part in competitions by running grade exams periodically.  These exams help dancers achieve their goals and potential.  Again, the grade exams are not compulsory and dancers can attend classes without any obligation to competitions or grade exams.

Throughout the year the school organises lots of fundraising events to help towards the cost of travel to long distance competitions.  The school regular holds a number of social events during the year for all the families and friends of the school.

The school is registered with  the Irish Dancing Governing body An Coimisiun le Rince Gaelacha www.clrg.ie

Kathleen is fully insured and CRB checked (now known as DBS disclosure and baring service).
